In Makinsk and Shortandy, Kazakhstan, winters are severe, with temperatures plunging to as low as −40 degrees Fahrenheit. The residents of these villages live in deep poverty, and many lack the financial means to purchase fuel to heat their homes. This project seeks to provide funding so the Sisters can obtain coal and wood to heat the homes where they live and carry out their ministry; fuel for a kitchen that feeds the poor; coal to warm a homeless shelter; and coal to heat the homes of the most impoverished families in the community, especially those with children and single mothers.
