St. Vincent Transition Clinic

Project Description

This project aims to provide crucial assistance to hospital patients from the most impoverished and remote areas of Paraguay, particularly indigenous individuals who lack family support and economic resources. The primary objective is to offer necessary care, including medications and treatment, to those who are abandoned and cannot afford basic healthcare after leaving the hospital. This initiative serves as the only transit home in the country, located in San Lorenzo, which provides temporary shelter and support for patients who would otherwise have no means to access the care they need. Many of these patients, especially the elderly and children, face extreme poverty and may resort to harmful measures to afford medicine, such as selling their bodies. The project ensures that patients can receive essential treatments, improving their health and enabling them to return home cured, rather than succumbing to preventable conditions.
