The significant poverty levels in the area led the local government to initiate a “Job Creation” program. However, due to resource constraints, the program has only been able to assist a limited number of individuals. So far, only 251 men and 753 women have been able to benefit from this initiative over the past three years.
In an effort to supplement these poverty reduction measures and mitigate income poverty, the DOC/UDP is planning income-generating activities in Woreda-09 of Yeka Sub-City. By promoting initiatives that generate income, supporting sustainable businesses, and enhancing access to resources and opportunities, this project aims to elevate the standard of living in the community and decrease their vulnerability to poverty.
