Bongao is a coastal city in Tawi-Tawi, Philippines and home to the Bajaus, one of the most marginalized groups in the region. As many Bajaus live in poverty and suffer malnourishment, Daughters of Charity have been providing daycare, a kindergarten education, and nutritious meals to Bajau children at the Bajau Learning Center. The goal of this project is to ensure that each child enrolled in the Learning Center, as well as alumni, are well-nourished and will continue studying while preserving, enhancing, and acknowledging the positive aspects of the Bajau culture.
