San Jose Home for Women – Operations

Project Description

In the city of San Juan de Pasto there is no place where women in extreme poverty are welcomed and cared for: pregnant and breastfeeding mothers come from places that are difficult to access and must remain in the city because of the high risk of pregnancy or because their newborns are hospitalized. Most arrive alone, with no money to pay for a hotel and with the risk of not being treated in the postpartum stage. Some of them must stay with us for long periods of time, depending on the children’s treatments or surgeries. In the case of young students, they come from places of armed conflict with a great desire to improve themselves and do not have the economic resources to study.
These women, both mothers and young women, have no shelter in the city while they go through these circumstances. This funding will help to provide for these young mothers and their infant children.
