The St. Vincent English Medium School in Gunupur was established to facilitate quality education for the poor students in the hostels, along with the rich ones of the town. St. Vincent’s School serves more than 350 students (girls and boys) from four to 16 years of age through Class X according to the Indian School Certificate Exam. Unlike other schools in the cities, one-third of the students come from tribal backgrounds, and they belong to low-income families. The purpose of the school is to empower the socially and economically poor and to facilitate them to enter into the mainstream of the society. The project wants to promote quality education for the students through the purchase of standard-based school items (e.g., science lab items, literacy books, teaching aids, and sport items).
