The chaotic and unstable economic situation, coupled with the pandemic, in Barquisimeto has profoundly affected the ability to attend to the most basic needs of elderly women who are both physically and mentally disabled, and a majority of whom have no families and in a state of abandonment. Currently 40 elderly women are living in the home, however they have the capacity for 70 if the funds were available. The project will provide the spiritual, medical, emotional, and nutritional care so desperately needed and increase the number of people served. At the St. Vincent de Paul home they will provide the dignified services for this very vulnerable population and continue the care that was gifted to the church through the saintly founders.
