DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY
OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
INTERNATIONAL PROJECT SERVICES
In collaboration with the Diocese, the Daughters of Charity in Burkina Faso have established awareness programs designed to educate the community regarding a variety of health strategies. This instruction has directly reduced fatalities from malnutrition in the area. Unfortunately, poor families from rural villages are still left to fend for themselves. The large number of malnourished women and children specifically demanded urgent attention from the Sisters. A health sensitization program was initiated which offered a population of approximately 14,736 detailed information on health issues. 10 villages participated, each receiving visits from the Sisters. Malnourished children were properly diagnosed and referred to treatment centers so that they could receive appropriate care.
