DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY
OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
INTERNATIONAL PROJECT SERVICES
For women in this rural, agricultural region, their lack of opportunity combined with child-rearing and home responsibilities make it very difficult to contribute to the family income. This adversely affects financially struggling households. Since the population is composed of primarily small farmers, educational opportunities for the children are limited. Constructing an educational crèche, or day care facility, will offer organized academic instruction, an alternative early education program for children living in this rural area. The facility will also enable women to work and contribute to the family income. The crèche will positively impact 60 young children (ages 4-6), nine hours a day through a head start program of early education and socialization.
