DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY
OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
INTERNATIONAL PROJECT SERVICES
At the Home for the Elderly and Disabled Children in Wejherowo, Poland, the Daughters of Charity provide patient care for a total of 115 individuals, many of whom need professional 24-hour healthcare. The youth and adult patients have varying levels of education, but most have only completed primary school. Residents largely have low incomes or are living off social benefits. The Sisters and their team provide concentrated care specific to both bedridden and ambulatory patients. A challenging issue at the home is the lack of a working elevator. Although most of the patients are not ambulatory, due to various debilitating health conditions, staff caring for bedridden or wheel chair bound patients need access to move freely and to ensure proper and swift medical attention when needed. The Sisters are seeking financial support to purchase an elevator, which will improve work conditions and afford residents the best care possible.
