DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY
OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
INTERNATIONAL PROJECT SERVICES
Educational opportunities in Rwisabi are very limited for young children because there are insufficient preschools and elementary schools. Consequently, the illiteracy rate in the area is high. The Daughters of Charity have responded to the situation by managing Marguerite Naseau Preschool where two Sisters and 12 lay teachers work together to offer quality education to youngsters ages 3 to 7 years old. This year, there are 211 boys and girls enrolled. The student curriculum includes subjects like language, religion, pre-reading, pre-math, and many others. Unfortunately, because the preschool is in a poor area parents are unable to afford tuition costs and the school lacks funds for annual expenses like nutritional support, school and office supplies, hygiene products, and staff salaries. This project will allow the school to continue operating throughout the 2019/2020 school year.
