DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY
OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
INTERNATIONAL PROJECT SERVICES
In the large and thriving city of Krakow, the Daughters of Charity run a day care center out of their Provincial House for 35 children and youth who come from dysfunctional families. These children are disadvantaged and experience many problems due to alcoholism, drugs violence, and unemployment within their families. They have developmental issues and the result is many complex problems at school and issues with socialization. This day care center provides a place of rest, relaxation, a variety of sports, art, music and educational activities as well as assistance with homework, and the guarantee of a hot dinner. Promotion, protection and family support are all provided by the Sisters through their concentrated work and through the generosity of donors and the local province for co-funding. Volunteers give of themselves generously and provide invaluable encouragement, support and comradery. Day trips, walks, biblical study, health promotion and family visits to recognize needs and address issues all combine for improved lives and happiness.
