DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY
OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
INTERNATIONAL PROJECT SERVICES
The city of Gramsh in Southern Albania is an impoverished and isolated area. High rates of unemployment, large families unable to support themselves, and limited access to medical care are serious issues here. The severe poverty in Albania is largely the result of the former communist regime that existed in the country. Gramsh has approximately 15,000 inhabitants, but another 20,000 live in neighboring villages. The Daughters of Charity have served this population since 2013. They provide home visits, medications, food, and hygiene materials to poor persons. The Sisters maintain a small dispensary. Particularly vulnerable persons will be assisted by this project including the elderly, the sick, those who are handicapped, and those living in remote hilly areas. The Sisters expect to assist about 60 persons through this project.
