DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY
OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
INTERNATIONAL PROJECT SERVICES
This project will enable the Sisters and collaborators to provide medications to sick, poor persons living in Peja, Kosovo and 19 surrounding villages through the Daughters of Charity medical home care program. The Sisters have offered free health care through this program for over 15 years. This is a particularly important service as so many families in Kosovo are living without health insurance and are unable to access healthcare. This population struggles with many challenges and issues such as unemployment, violence, illiteracy, drug use, the exploitation of children, and a lack of basic needs. Several forms of medical treatment and support are provided through the Sisters’ program including wound care, health promotion and education, and the distribution of medicines and medical supplies. A priority need is funds to purchase vital medications to treat various diseases and conditions. This project will reach approximately 500 patients.
