DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY
OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
INTERNATIONAL PROJECT SERVICES
This project will include two components – 1) home care and support for vulnerable persons and 2) youth formation. The Daughters of Charity in Sniatyn began their ministry of visiting sick persons in their homes in 2000. The Sisters provide material, spiritual, and emotional support for these persons in need, including hospice care when needed. Those assisted include those who have no families, immigrants, from dysfunctional family situations, or struggling with unemployment/addiction. Currently 31 persons are receiving home visits and 10 additional persons come to the Sisters’ house to receive care, mostly women. During home visits, the Sisters take advantage of the situation by teaching family members about proper care such as hygiene, etc. The second component of this project is a formation program for children and youth (Vincentian Marian Youth) which takes place at the Sisters’ house. This group includes 20 young persons from 12 to 20 years old. Meetings, day retreats, and volunteer work are included in the program. The young people give back to the program by visiting the home care patients.
