DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY
OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
INTERNATIONAL PROJECT SERVICES
Ibinyoni Nursery School was established by the Daughters of Charity in Burundi to prepare abandoned and destitute children ages 3-6 for primary school. Since other nursery schools in the area are very expensive, disadvantaged families particularly depend on this establishment. 154 girls and boys are currently enrolled. A daily bowl of porridge is offered that serves as a major source of nourishment for many of the students. Project support went towards food, shoes, and operational expenses for the school. The children are showing great progress; they are learning to count in French, English, Swahili, and Kirundi, and also writing numbers and letters.
