EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO CARE FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES AT THE SOCIAL WELFARE HOME

Wejherowo, POLAND

Project Description

The Daughters of Charity in Wejherowo manage a Social Welfare Home for children living with disabilities and the elderly. They currently offer 24-hour care for a total of 115 people, including 32 children living with mental disabilities and 83 persons who are chronically ill. Most residents have limited mobility and are unable to move between building floors independently. Still, daily hygiene is essential for good health and to prevent bedsores due to limited mobility. The home currently uses hoists to help transport patients for bathing. Unfortunately, this equipment is outdated and only works if the patient is in an upright position, which puts strain on the patient’s spine and challenges the care staff. The Sisters plan to purchase three new modern hoists to increase comfort and safety for bedridden and disabled residents at the Social Welfare Home.
