EQUIPMENT + EDUCATION FOR DAY CARE

Sniatyn, UKRAINE

Project Description

The Daughters of Charity Day Care Center in Sniatyn, now has a renovated common room providing a much needed clean and cheery space to entertain and teach up to 40 children. New kitchen equipment, a laptop, camera, bedding, toys, teaching aids and school supplies are all helping to enhance the comfort and learning experiences away from home for the children. The Day Center also upgraded the playground equipment for healthy outdoor playtime. Parish meetings were held on the playground for 30 children and their families. Attendance was down at the Day Care during the pandemic, but when the situation becomes more stable, the capacity will grow. The Sisters were able to provide individual attention for ten families through home visits and helped several to avoid break-ups, divorce or addictions through increasing awareness of the special-needs of some children and self-care during hard times. Although Ukraine is a country with an access to a wealth of information, people still need education and community to avoid damaging behaviors and ignorance in the raising of children. The Day Care Center’s goal is to increase involvement and support of the families as they state, “The family is the foundation of society. If there is unity, love and respect in the family, society will be better.”
