Daughters of Charity create International Project Services in response to needs
Daughter of Charity Provinces that minister in impoverished areas of the world often lack adequate financial resources to support the growing needs of the people they serve and, in many instances, to support the needs of the Sisters. Provinces that are able send money for Interprovincial Sharing which is distributed to poor Provinces by the General Curia, but these funds are limited.

Sometimes, for various reasons, Provinces do not know where or how to seek other funding. On May 18, 2004, the Superioress General with her Council established INTERNATIONAL PROJECT SERVICES (IPS), an optional service to help these Provinces obtain additional resources.

Goals of International Project Services
The primary goal of IPS is to help Daughter of Charity Provinces that minister in impoverished areas of the world with writing grant proposals for funding organizations to obtain the financial support needed by the Provinces and their works. The secondary goal of IPS is to strive to meet the needs of these Provinces by taking advantage of other advancement opportunities, including corporate and individual monetary gifts that are designated, unrestricted or in-kind.

Between September 2004 and January 2008, the IPS Office received 274 projects from 44 Daughter of Charity Provinces, serving in 45 countries. With the help of IPS, 212 of these projects have been successfully funded.
How You Can Help
Make a corporate or individual gift to IPS.
— Designate funds for a specific project or purpose.
— Give to the matching grant fund.
— Assist IPS with an unrestricted donation.

Encourage others to make a corporate or individual gift to IPS.

Spread the word about IPS or invite the Director to give a presentation to a group or organization.

Pray! Ask God to bless the work of IPS and the efforts of the Daughters of Charity so that those who are poor may be served with love, respect, and compassion.

St. Vincent said to his Daughters, “We should assist the poor in every way and do it both by ourselves and by enlisting the help of others – to do this is to preach the Gospel by word and work.” The people served by the Daughters of Charity in impoverished areas of Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America live in dire poverty. They are lacking in everything and their needs are varied and numerous.

You can make a donation of any amount to support small projects listed under the Projects Needing Your Help column to the left of this page or you can make an undesignated gift for many other projects that are waiting to be funded.

Please write a check to Daughters of Charity International Project Services and send it to the address below. All donations to IPS are tax deductible, as allowable by law. All money donated is used exclusively for IPS projects.

May God bless you for responding to this call!
